Campaign Guidelines
- Petitions must be
signed by WHS students and turned in to qualify your candidacy
- Campaign posters may be
hung in hallways only once petitions are turned in. All posters must be
pre-approved by Mrs. Pepe. Any poster hung without approval will be taken down
and discarded.
- All campaign materials
(including speeches) must be positive and appropriate: no negative
campaigning, no verbal or racial slurs, etc. Also, no glitter. (Glitter is
messy and creates A LOT of work for our custodians.)
- All candidates for
class and student body officers will give a speech. Speeches must be
pre-approved by Mrs. Pepe and are due by Friday, May 20.
- Speech suggestions: be
persuasive (why should we vote for you?), no skits, adequate length (2-3
minutes), practice
- Student body officer
candidates will also answer 3 questions in a panel setting. (You may
preview the questions on Friday, May 20.)
- All procedures of the
elections must be followed (petitions, poster approval, etc.) Failure to
follow procedures will result in disqualification. This includes deviating
from pre-approved speech.
- Exceptions: if only 1
person (or none) signs up to run for a position, the petition deadline
will be extended for that position only.
