The Trustees of Whitefish School District No. 44 and High School met for a work session on November 24, 2009 in the Whitefish School District Board Room.
Members Present: Chairperson Pat Jarvi, Dave Fern, Ruth Harrison, Shannon Hanson, Brian McDowell, Eric Hosek, and Mike Ferda.
Members Absent: None.
Officials Present: Superintendent Jerry House and District Clerk Danelle Reisch.

Chairperson Jarvi called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Curriculum and Instruction Review
Curriculum Director Bobbie Barrett provided information on assessment, curriculum and instruction, and computer assisted instruction including:
- Computer assisted writing programs
- Math Programs including Everyday Math, College Preparatory Math and Compass Learning programs.
- WMS/WHS Vocabulary Projects
- Testing & Assessment Data
- Indian Education for All
Board Policies
Superintendent House presented the following policy revisions (R) and new policies (N):
- Policy 5232 – Abused and Neglected Child Reporting (R)
- Policy 5254 – Payment of Employer Contributions and Interest on Previous Service (N)
- Policy 5338 – Payment of Interest on Employer Contributions for Workers’ Compensation Time (N)
- Policy 8430 – Records Management (R)
Evaluation of Board & District Progress
Chairperson Pat Jarvi’s assignment was to evaluate the district progress of the strategic plan.
She reported on the WHS facility progress with Steeplechase and the oversight committee, as well as curriculum and instruction. The board discussed the need for professional development time and requested specific models to create the time. Chairperson Jarvi also reviewed recruitment and retention of staff and community-school relations.
