The Trustees of Whitefish School District No. 44 and High School met for a special retreat meeting on June 21, 2006 in the Mountain West Bank.

 

Members Present:         Chairperson Dave Fern, Pat Jarvi, Shannon Hanson, Amy Eddy, Ruth Harrison, and Eric Hosek.

 

Members Absent:          Phil Mitchell.

 

Officials Present:           Superintendent Jerry House, District Clerk Danelle Reisch; and District Administrators Dave Means, Jill Rocksund, Bobbie Barrett, Kent Paulson, Jeff Peck, Kim Anderson, Kerry Drown, and Chris Deister.

 

Call to Order

Chairperson Fern called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

 

Review and Revision of the Agenda

There were no changes.

There was none.

 

Welcome

Chairperson Fern welcomed the board and administrative staff and reviewed the Board/Administrative Survey completed by the trustees and administrators prior to the meeting.  In addition, he reviewed the agenda and provided a historical review of the strategic planning process.

The administrative team and trustees convened to review the strategic plan and recommend revisions.

 

Retiree Recognition

Chairperson Fern recognized the following retiring staff members:

            Joyce Murphy, Central School Special Education teacher

            John Klassen, Central and WHS Band teacher

            Jeannie Phillips, Muldown Secretary

            Suzanne Hitesman, Central School Special Education teacher

Board Governance

Chairperson Fern and the board reviewed the survey, board meeting format, parliamentary procedures, work session composition, local and national conventions, board certification, the role of the student representative, the Education Foundation, and the negotiations committee.
