Application:

Thank you for your request for an application to be considered for a position at Whitefish School District No. 44.  You will be contacted for a personal interview if you are selected as a candidate for a particular position.  The School District will not reimburse candidates for their interview expenses.

COMPONENTS OF A "COMPLETE" APPLICATION

An application is considered "complete" when ALL of the components listed below are received on or before the closing date.  Only "complete" applications are eligible for screening:

      1. Letter of application for a given position
      2. Resume
      3. District Application - completed and signed
      4. Transcripts
      5. Current Placement File or a minimum of three (3) CURRENT letters of recommendation
      6. Copy of Montana Teaching Certificate
      7. Autobiography

Letter of Application:

A letter/statement expressing an interest in a given position at Whitefish Public Schools.

Transcripts:

A photocopy of transcript(s) is required.  An official transcript is required if you are successful in securing the position.  All courses which you would like considered for step advancement must be verified at this time.

Placement File:

You should arrange for your "Placement File" to be sent to:  Office of the Superintendent, Whitefish School District No. 44, 600 East Second Street, Whitefish, MT  59937.  If your placement file does not include teaching references (experienced teachers), you should have this information added to said file.

Certification:

A valid Montana State Teaching Certificate is required in order to teach at Whitefish Public Schools.

  1. If you have a current Montana State Certificate or you have recently completed requirements for certification in Montana, a copy of said certificate or proof of application must be provided with your application.
  2. If you do not have a current Montana certificate, you should write to the Director of Certification, Office of Public Instruction, State Capitol, Helena, Montana  59620  (406-444-3150).  Your application material must contain a letter from you stating the details of your contact with OPI or a copy of the application for certification from OPI.
  3. If your certificate has expired, contact either your college/university or Director of Certification in Helena.
  4. It is the responsibility of those teachers selected to work at Whitefish Public Schools to register their certificates with Flathead County Superintendent of Schools in Kalispell, Montana, and to provide School District 44 with a copy of their registered certificate.

Autobiography:

A five hundred (500) word autobiography of your professional career and events which led you into teaching is required.

Communications:

The Superintendent's Office will not initiate contact with you unless there is sufficient reason to do so.  You may contact the Superintendent's Office regarding the status of your application or the employment situation.  Notices of vacancies are posted on the Whitefish School District website, various teachers' bulletin boards within the District and with the appropriate college placement offices in Montana and bordering states, Montana State Job Service Teacher Placement and local newspapers.

If you wish to have your transcript(s) returned to you, you must provide a self-address, stamped envelope.
